Organization of the NOCs
There are currently 203 National Olympic Committees on five continents.
Association of National Olympic Committees
The NOCs come together at least once every two years in the form of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), for the exchange of information and experiences in order to consolidate their role within the Olympic movement. In this way, the ANOC assistance in the preparation of NOCs their meeting with the IOC and the Olympic committee congress.
The ANOC also to the IOC advice on the use of funds from the television rights for the NOCs. These recommendations focus on the implementation of programmes of Olympic Solidarity in particular.
The ANOC is currently in the 203 NOCs and is divided between the five continental associations:
Africa: ANOCA (Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa)
Americas: PASO (Pan American Sports Organization)
Asia: OCA (Olympic Council of Asia)
Europe: EOC (European Olympic Committees)
Mission of the NOCs
The National Olympic Committees (NOCs), the promotion of the fundamental principles of Olympism at national level within the framework of sports. NOCs are obliged to promote the development of athletes and the promotion of sports development for all programs and levels of high performance sport in their respective countries. They also participate in the training of sports administrators by organizing educational programs.
Another objective of the National Olympic Committee is to ensure that athletes from their respective countries at the Olympics. Only an NOC is able to select and send teams and competitors to participate in the Olympic Games.

The National Olympic Committee can then name of the city with the IOC as applying to host the Olympic Games.
Although most nations are NOCs, the IOC also recognises independent territories, commonwealths, protectorates and geographical areas. There are currently 203 NOCs, starting with Albania to Zimbabwe. |
